YES Prep Brays Oaks Secondary Dress Code & Uniform Expectations 2026 – 2027

YES Prep Public Schools believes in the power of community and school pride, while deeply valuing the student's right to express their individuality without fear of unnecessary discipline, bodily humiliation, or the limitations of gender norms. Students have the right to be treated equally and the application of the dress code in YES Prep public schools will not create disparities, reinforce or increase the marginalization of any group, or be more unfairly enforced against a student based on racial identity, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, cultural or religious identity, household income, body size or type, OR body maturity.

For the 2026-2027 school year, students are required to wear a YES Prep-branded uniform t-shirt five days a week, with flexibility on designated days (i.e., college t-shirt day). Uniform t-shirts from any previous school year are acceptable as long as they conform to the uniform policy. The student's most visible layer should be a YES Prep-branded t-shirt.

Additional guidance:

• All YES Prep students should have at least 1 pole on campus.

• Uniforms from previous grades are acceptable if they meet the school's uniform guidelines.

YES Prep Polo Shirts and Spirit T-shirts will be available for purchase online from June 4, 2026. All information regarding student uniforms, links to campus web stores, and the distribution guide can be found on the YES Prep Student Dress Code webpage.

• The bottom should be made of khaki or denim.

• Clothing should be free of holes, tears, or worn designs.

• Leggings, jeggings, pants, and athletic shorts can only be worn during physical education.

• and are not permitted in any other way.

• Shorts or skirts should be long or long to the fingertips.

• All students must wear closed-toe shoes with a heel or back strap for safety purposes.

Will uniforms be required for students?   

Brays Oaks students are required to wear a YES Prep polo shirt on Mondays, and Brays Oaks uniform shirts Tuesdays-Thursdays.  Students may wear a college/university shirt or Brays Oaks spirit shirt on Fridays.

Where can I purchase a YES Prep polo, uniform shirt, outerwear or spirit shirt?

All permitted tops for the 26-27 School year can be purchased at our school store located at https://yesprep.revtrak.net/

What are the dress code expectations?  

ID Badge	Students must always wear Student ID badges while on campus.  ID badges must always be worn on a lanyard and visible.
Bottoms	Students may wear the following bottoms Monday-Friday  Jeans  Jean shorts of appropriate length  Khaki pants   Khaki shorts or skirts of appropriate length  Please note that athletic shorts, joggers, athletic pants  and pajama pants are NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Shoes	For safety purposes, all shoes must meet the following criteria:    Closed-toed    Must have backs  Must have hard soles   Any color is permitted   Crocs are permitted. Slides, sandals and slippers are not permitted at any times.
Outerwear	Students must wear any YES Prep or Brays Oaks outerwear.
Accessories/Styling	Hats, hoods, and sunglasses are not permitted for safety purposes.  Visible piercings and tattoos are allowed if messaging and images are school-appropriate.  Spiked accessory items (bracelets, belts, collars) are not permitted due to safety reasons.  Students may wear a variety of hairstyles and colors. Head shaving designs are permitted if images are school-appropriate.  Religious or cultural head-coverings are permitted.  Bandanas are not permitted.

YES Prep’s updated dress code policy 

YES Prep’s dress code policy is centered around values of equity and school pride. The YES Prep dress code allows for building individuality and allows for community building through campus-specific attire. The dress code is a daily expectation and should meet district and campus guidelines. Like all YES Prep policies, if a student’s dress or accessory choice poses a concern for student physical or emotional safety, a campus administrator has the discretion to disallow the dress item.
